Key takeaways
- In August 2026 A1 Roofing had no website of its own, no domain name and no Facebook or Instagram. The site went live on 2 September 2026.
- To 26 October 2026 it brought in 19 enquiries in under two months: 10 quote requests through the form, plus 8 calls and 1 email tapped straight from the site.
- It is picking up speed: 4 in September, 15 in October so far.
- The rankings are still being built. A1 isn’t in the Google Maps top 20 yet in the towns we checked, so the enquiries came from the website, the suburb pages and the guides, not from a map-pack win.
On this page
Short answer: we gave A1 Roofing the foundations first (its own domain, a fast site with one page per roofing service, a quote form that takes photos, Search Console and call tracking), then suburb pages and roofing guides for the searches people make when a roof starts leaking, and a properly set-up Google Business Profile. The site went live on 2 September 2026. By 26 October it had brought in 19 enquiries. The map pack isn’t won yet, and we say so below.

The starting point: nothing online
A1 Roofing & Property Maintenance is Sam Arace’s business, owner-operated from Redwood Park in Adelaide’s north-east. Sam quotes every job himself and does the work: roof repairs and leaks, restorations, re-roofing, gutters, fascia and downpipes, storm make-safes and inspections. In August 2026:
- There was no website of his own and no domain name, so no pages for Google to show and no search history.
- There was no Facebook page and no Instagram.
- Enquiries went to a Gmail address, and the Google Business Profile wasn’t set up properly.
- Sam is on roofs all day, so whatever we set up had to bring in work without him at a computer.
Roofing is one of the most competitive local trades in Adelaide. The map pack is full of roofers with years of history behind them. Starting from zero, the realistic first goal isn’t page one for “roofing adelaide”. It is getting the phone to ring from the searches you can win.
The order we did the work in
- Foundations first. Our team at JB Digital Barossa registered a1roofingadelaide.com.au and built a fast, photo-led site with a page for each roofing service, LocalBusiness structured data, a call button on every page and a quote form that takes photos. Search Console and Google Analytics went in with it, so every form, call tap and email tap is counted.
- A business email on his own domain. A small thing that matters: an address at a1roofingadelaide.com.au looks like a real business on the quote and in the inbox, and it still lands where Sam already checks.
- The Business Profile, matched to the site. The roofing category, his services, his real opening hours, his logo and job photos, and a service area that matches where he actually works, then regular Google posts. Our Business Profile optimisation page has the checklist.
- Suburb pages, written for the suburbs. Roofers get searched by place. The site has pages for Tea Tree Gully, Modbury, Golden Grove and Salisbury, each answering the questions locals ask, rather than thin copies with the suburb swapped. How to do these properly is in suburb pages for tradies.
- Guides for the moment a roof starts leaking. Nine plain-English guides so far: why roofs leak, what to do after a storm, restoration vs re-roofing, rebedding and repointing, gutters and downpipes, roof inspections, tile vs Colorbond, gutter cleaning and roof flashing. These pull in the searches people make before they call anyone.
- Service pages matched to how people search. On 23 October we retitled the service pages around the phrases people actually type (“roof repairs and leaking roof repairs”, “gutter replacement and downpipe repairs”, “roof inspections”), and added plain answers to “who does roof repairs in Tea Tree Gully?” and the other towns, for AI search as much as for Google.
- Indexing, page by page. Each new page was sent to Google through Search Console as it went live. How long Google takes to index a page covers what to expect.
- Lead handling that doesn’t lose anyone. Quote requests arrive as branded emails with the customer’s photos attached and spam filtered out first, and the customer gets a confirmation straight away.
The results, with dates
| Measure | Result | When and how |
|---|---|---|
| Website enquiries | 19 | 2 Sep to 26 Oct 2026: 10 quote requests through the form, 8 calls and 1 email tapped from the site (our client portal + Google Analytics) |
| By month | 4 → 15 | September 2026 (the first month online), then 1 to 26 October 2026 |
| Google impressions | 340 → 779 (2.3×) | Search Console, 2 to 23 Sep vs 25 Sep to 16 Oct 2026 |
| Clicks from Google | 23 → 30 | Same 22-day windows |
| Click-through rate | 6.8% → 3.9% | Same windows: the site started showing for many more searches, most of them not on page one yet |
The quote requests came from Redwood Park, Greenwith, Highbury, Clearview, Parkside, Woodcroft, Seaford Rise and more: leaking roofs, a roof restoration, a full roof and gutter replacement, hail holes in a pergola roof, rotten fascia and broken tiles, and a downpipe replacement. Spam, sales pitches and our own tests are not counted.
What Sam says
Sam left JB Digital Barossa a five-star Google review on 26 October 2026: “Since day 1 Josh has been professional, punctual , polite , he takes in what I want out of this experience and puts it work. His website designs are nothing short of flawless, his attention to detail and just his general knowledge within his field is outstanding. Couldn't suggest a better website designer / creator.”

What isn’t won yet
- No map-pack win. On our 20 October 2026 Google Maps checks for “roofing”, A1 wasn’t in the top 20 in any of the four towns we checked. The enquiries came from the website, its suburb pages and its guides.
- Most money searches are still deep. A lot of A1’s roofing searches sit on pages four to eight in Search Console. That is normal for a site under two months old with no links pointing at it yet, and it is the next stage of the work.
- Reviews and job photos. In a trade this crowded, Google Maps rewards reviews and real job photos. That depends on Sam’s customers as much as on us.
What carries over to any new trade business
- Measure enquiries from day one. Count forms, call taps and email taps separately, or you will judge the work on impressions alone. A1’s click-through rate fell while the enquiries climbed.
- Win the searches you can win first. Suburb and problem searches (“roof leaking after rain”, “roof repairs Golden Grove”) are winnable long before “roofing adelaide” is.
- Make it easy to say yes on a phone. A call button on every page and a quote form that takes photos turn a visit into a job you can price.
Not a one-off
May Paving in Gawler shows what happens a few months further in: 33 website enquiries from 21 August to 26 October 2026, 20 of them in October, and #1 on Google Maps for “paving” searched from Gawler (13 and 20 October 2026). The local side of A1’s story, written for Barossa readers, is on JB Digital Barossa’s news: A1 Roofing, from no website to 19 enquiries. The full data is in the A1 Roofing case study.
Where we sit
Starting from nothing is where a lot of our trade clients begin. The SEO for tradies page has the full approach, and the local SEO services page covers suburb pages and the map pack. Plans start at $349 a month, month to month.
