SEO for tradies · Adelaide & SA

SEO for tradies, by people who rank tradies.

Why trades are different

Trade searches are urgent, local, and end in a phone call.

Customers search a whole family of phrases. Iron Works’ customers search “mobile welder adelaide”, “mobile welders adelaide”, “mobile welding services adelaide”, “onsite welding adelaide” and more. Rank for one phrasing and you miss most of the market, so pages have to cover the family naturally.

The search is local even when it doesn’t say so. “Paving contractors near me” is a local search. Google uses the searcher’s location, your profile and your site’s areas to decide who shows.

The phone is the measure. Trade customers ring. So every page needs a tap-to-call number, a quote form that takes photos, and a Google Business Profile that gets them to call you, not the next listing.

Your photos are your proof. Real jobs, before and after, on your site and your profile. They help people choose you, and they make your pages genuinely different from every competitor’s.

Piper Plumbing & Gas, Williamstown

A family plumber and gas fitter in the Barossa Valley, rated 5.0 on Google, from 148 reviews (3 Nov 2026). The new site has a page for each of its nine services, pages for the Barossa towns and Gawler, and a quote form that takes photos. Averaging 4.6 for “plumber barossa” and 8.1 for “plumber barossa valley” in Google (Search Console, 15 – 24 Oct 2026; the site launched 9 Oct), and #1 in Google’s local results for “plumber” from Nuriootpa and Williamstown, #2 from Lyndoch (checked 3 Nov 2026). What we do for trades

The trade SEO checklist.

Tradie SEO plans start at $349 a month, with no lock-in contract, just 30 days’ notice by email to cancel.

  • One page per job type. Driveways, patios and retaining walls each get their own page if you want work for each.
  • Area pages for where you really work, written with local detail. Iron Works’ Murray Bridge page talks harvesters, river work and stock crates because that’s the work there.
  • Google Business Profile with every service, your real service area and job photos.
  • A review habit. A link you can text after every job.
  • Tap-to-call and photo quote forms on every page.
  • Monthly report showing the searches that bring calls, not vanity totals.

Questions

Tradie SEO, answered.

I get most work from word of mouth. Do I need SEO?

Word of mouth often ends in a Google search: people hear your name, then look you up, then look at who else comes up. SEO makes sure you show up well for that, and for the customers who have never heard of you. If you are booked out for months, maybe not yet.

Should I pay for Google Ads instead?

Ads buy clicks for as long as you pay. SEO builds rankings that keep working. Many trades do both: ads for the busy season or a new service, SEO for the long run. Our Local plan is SEO only. On Growth and Serious, 20% or 35% of the monthly fee goes into Google Ads that we run, or you can swap that share for other work.

Do I need a page for every suburb?

No. You need pages for the areas you genuinely want work from, each written about that area. Ten real pages beat a hundred copy-paste ones, and the copy-paste kind can hurt the whole site. Our suburb pages guide goes through it, and our local SEO Adelaide page shows how we plan them.

What do you need from me?

Twenty minutes to talk through your services and the areas you want, photos of real jobs (phone photos are fine), and access to your website and Google Business Profile as a manager. We do the rest.
