Key takeaways
- Our SEO audit is free, checked by a person, and you get a short PDF of fixes in priority order within 1–2 business days. It’s yours to keep, whether or not you hire us.
- It checks six things: whether Google can see your pages, your page wording, your Google Business Profile and Maps, missing pages, who vouches for you, and who is beating you.
- On 21 SA sites in October, 31% of the pages we inspected weren’t in Google. Only an inspection in Search Console showed it.
- The most common fix we find isn’t technical: Google is using the wrong page for the search that matters. It happens on our own site too.
On this page
Short answer: our SEO audit is free. A person checks whether Google can see your pages, whether they say what people search for, your Google Business Profile and Maps, any missing pages, your reviews and links, and the businesses beating you. You get a short PDF of fixes in priority order within 1–2 business days. It doesn’t come with a ranking promise, because nobody can honestly make one.
What it costs, and what you get back
Nothing. You fill in the free SEO audit form with your website and, if you like, the main search you want to win. Within 1–2 business days you get:
- A plain-English PDF, a few pages long, with three to ten fixes in priority order.
- Who does each fix: you, your web person, or us. Plenty of them are ten-minute jobs in your Business Profile.
- An honest recommendation. Sometimes that’s one of our plans. Sometimes it’s “fix these four things yourself and check again in three months”.
If you then want us to do the work, our plans are Local $349, Growth $599 and Serious $1,099 a month, month to month with 30 days’ notice by email to cancel. There’s no setup fee, and the audit doesn’t lock you into anything.
What the audit checks
- Can Google see your pages? We check which pages are in Google’s index, not just whether the site loads. Where you give us Search Console access, we inspect them one by one.
- Do your pages say what people search? Titles, headings and wording, against what customers actually type. “Paving” and “pavers” are different searches, and so are “welder” and “welding”.
- Your Google Business Profile and Maps. Category, services, service area, hours, photos and reviews, compared with the three businesses in the map box for your main search. For most local businesses this is where the calls come from.
- Missing pages. Is there a page for each service and area you want to rank for, or is one page trying to do everything?
- Who vouches for you. Reviews, directory listings and links, against your competitors. In most trades the directories are on page one too, so we check whether you’re on them.
- Who is winning, and why. For your main search, what the top results have that you don’t.
The checks go deeper on our guide to what an SEO audit should include. This post is about what they turn up in practice.
Six things the same checks found on real SA sites
We run these checks on the websites we look after every month. Here is what they turned up recently. The businesses are described, not named, unless their results are already public on our results page.
| What we found | Where and when | Why it mattered |
|---|---|---|
| A third of pages not in Google | 264 of 385 pages indexed across 21 SA sites (69%), Search Console inspection, 5 Oct 2026 | A page Google hasn’t indexed can’t rank for anything, however good it is |
| Google using the homepage, not the town page | A Gawler paving business: the homepage was 4th for “paving gawler” and the Gawler page 17th, searched from Gawler, 3 Nov 2026 | The page built for that search wasn’t getting the credit, so it couldn’t climb |
| A town name Google reads as somewhere else | A Hills welder: for “welder mount pleasant” the web results were welders in Mount Pleasant WA, NSW and Queensland, 3 Nov 2026 | The fix is wording: “Mount Pleasant SA 5235” on the page, not just “Mount Pleasant” |
| Old pages still showing after a redirect | A Barossa pest control site: two retired town pages still showed in results for “pest control barossa”, 3 Nov 2026 | Google takes a while to drop old addresses; we check they redirect to the right new page |
| Legal pages ranking for a money search | The same site: its accessibility and privacy pages showed 10th and 12th for “pest control barossa”, 3 Nov 2026 | Thin pages standing in where a proper service page should be |
| Our own contact page taking our audit search | Adelaide SEO Services: our rank tracker had /contact/ 2nd for “seo audit adelaide” on 25 Oct 2026, not the audit page | It still brought people to us, but it splits signals between two pages |
That last one is ours, and it’s the most common problem we see: Google choosing a different page from the one you built for a search. It’s normal on a young site, and the fix is usually internal links and clearer wording, not a rebuild.

What fixing them has done, with dates
An audit is only worth it if the fixes move something. These are businesses we look after, where the same checks set the to-do list, with results already public:
| Business | Result | When and how |
|---|---|---|
| Iron Works Mobile Welding | #1 for “farm welding” in Google’s web results | Searched from Mount Pleasant on a mobile, 3 Nov 2026 (3rd in the map box above it) |
| Iron Works, “mobile welding adelaide” | #1 in Google’s web results | Searched from Adelaide on desktop and mobile, 31 Oct 2026. Search Console average 5.1 (1 – 30 Oct 2026) |
| May Paving, “driveways gawler” | First in Google’s map box | Searched from Gawler on a mobile, 3 Nov 2026 |
| Insect Invasion, “pest control angaston” | #1 in Google’s web results | The Angaston page, searched from Angaston on a mobile, 3 Nov 2026 |
| A1 Roofing | 26 enquiries and calls in under two months | No website in August 2026; site live 2 Sep. 2 Sep – 31 Oct 2026 (our client portal + Google Analytics) |
Rankings move from day to day and depend on where you search from, so we always say where and when. The full stories are on the Iron Works, May Paving, Insect Invasion and A1 Roofing case studies.
When an audit is worth it, and when it isn’t
- Worth it if the phone has gone quiet, you’ve had a new website built, you’ve moved address or changed your business name, or a competitor has suddenly appeared above you on Maps.
- Worth it before you sign up with any SEO provider, including us, so you know what the work actually needs to be.
- Less useful if you haven’t got a website or a Business Profile yet. Start with those. JB Digital Barossa, the same team, builds both.
Four signs an audit isn’t much use
- A score out of 100 with no list of what to fix first.
- Nothing about your Business Profile or Maps. For a local business that’s usually where most of the calls come from.
- No mention of competitors. Your ranking only makes sense next to who is above you.
- A ranking promise at the end. Nobody controls Google, so a promise of page one by a date tells you more about the seller than your site.

How much does an SEO audit cost in Adelaide?
Ours is free. It’s the same first look our paid work starts with, and a lot of the fixes you can do yourself. If you want help after that, our monthly plans are $349, $599 and $1,099, month to month, with the full list on the pricing page.
How long does the audit take?
You get it back within 1–2 business days of asking. A person reviews the site, your Business Profile and the businesses ranking above you, then writes it up as a short PDF in plain English.
Is it an automated report?
No. We use tools to collect the data, including Google’s own Search Console where you give us access, but a person decides what matters and puts it in order. You won’t get a score out of 100 or ninety pages of warnings.
Do I have to sign up for anything after?
No. The audit is yours to keep. It even tells you if you don’t need a monthly plan at all, which for some businesses is the honest answer.
What do you need from me?
Your website address, your name and email, and ideally the main service and area you want to be found for, such as “bathroom renovations Morphett Vale”. Search Console access helps but isn’t needed.
