Costs & timelines

Small business SEO in Adelaide: where to start, what it costs, and what it has done for local businesses.

Small business SEO in Adelaide isn’t about beating the big agencies for the busiest searches. It’s about being the obvious choice for the people nearby who need what you sell. Here’s where to start, what it costs, and what that work has done for local businesses we look after, with every figure dated.

Key takeaways

  • Start with your Google Business Profile, then your details the same everywhere, then a page for each thing you sell, then reviews, then tracking.
  • Our plans are $349, $599 and $1,099 a month, month to month. The median entry plan among Adelaide agencies that publish a price was $1,350 (a market average, not our price).
  • Aim at the searches close to home first. Barossa 50’s Diner is top 3 on Google Maps for “burgers” at all 9 points around Tanunda (31 Oct 2026).
  • Judge it on enquiries, not rankings alone. SA Elite Handyman’s website brought 16 in October 2026, double September.

Short answer: for a small business in Adelaide, start with your Google Business Profile, make your name, address and phone number the same everywhere, give each product or service its own page, ask every happy customer for a review, and track calls and enquiries so you can see what’s working. Our local SEO for Adelaide small businesses starts at $349 a month, month to month. Aim at the searches near you first. Adelaide-wide head terms come later, if ever.

Where to start: five jobs, in this order

  1. Your Google Business Profile. The right primary category, every service or product listed, real opening hours, a service area if customers don’t come to you, and real photos. For most small businesses this is where the calls and directions come from. Our Business Profile checklist walks through it.
  2. Your details the same everywhere. Business name, address and phone number exactly the same on your website, Google, Apple Maps, Bing, Facebook and the directories you’re on. Small mismatches quietly cost you on Maps.
  3. A page for each thing you sell. One “Services” page can’t rank for everything. A café needs its menu on a real page, not a PDF. A bathroom renovator needs a page for bathrooms and one for laundries.
  4. Reviews, every week. Ask every happy customer, with a direct link, the day the job is done or the order goes out. It’s the slowest job and the one that matters most on the map.
  5. Tracking. Google Analytics counting calls, forms and email taps, and Search Console showing what people searched to find you. Without it you’re guessing.

That order matters. A blog post a week won’t help much if your Business Profile is in the wrong category.

What it costs

We publish all three plans: Local $349, Growth $599 and Serious $1,099 a month. There’s no setup fee and no lock-in contract, just 30 days’ notice by email to cancel.

  • Local, $349, suits most small businesses with one location: the Business Profile and Maps, your details the same everywhere, tracking, up to 1 new page or post a month, 1–2 pages improved and a monthly report. No Google Ads.
  • Growth, $599, adds Google Ads (about $120 a month of the fee goes into ads we run), link building, two new pages a month and competitor tracking.
  • Serious, $1,099, is for more than one location or an online store.

For context, when we checked 14 agencies selling SEO in Adelaide on 5 Oct 2026, the median entry plan was $1,350 a month. That’s other agencies’ prices, not ours. Our Adelaide SEO cost guide shows the range, and affordable SEO in Adelaide has our plans side by side.

What this kind of work has done, with dates

These are small businesses our team looks after: food, retail, trades and services, mostly in Adelaide, Gawler and the Barossa. Several started with a new website from JB Digital Barossa, the same team.

Notice what these searches have in common: they’re local. Nobody on that list is trying to rank for “restaurant Adelaide”. They win the searches made close by, where Google’s map is the first thing people see. The full write-ups are on our results page.

What you can fix yourself this week

  • Check your Business Profile category. Search your main service and look at the three businesses on the map. If their primary category is different from yours, that’s worth a look.
  • Search your phone number in Google. Every listing that comes up should show the same business name and address.
  • Ask five recent customers for a review, with the direct link from your Business Profile.
  • Add your suburb or town to your homepage title, written for people: “Bathroom renovations in Morphett Vale”, not a list of keywords.

How to tell if it’s working

Look at enquiries first: calls, forms and emails from the website, month by month. Then clicks from Google. Rankings are the means, not the point. Sometimes the number of times you’re shown on Google drops while clicks and enquiries go up. That’s a win: fewer, better searches, and more of the people who see you choosing you. Our monthly report shows all three, in plain English.

Give any plan at least three months before you judge it. You get a report every month, so you can see it as it goes, and you can leave with 30 days’ notice if it isn’t working.

Frequently asked questions

How much should a small business spend on SEO in Adelaide?

Our plans are $349, $599 and $1,099 a month, month to month. When we checked 14 Adelaide agencies that publish their prices on 5 Oct 2026, the median entry plan was $1,350 a month. If the price isn’t on an agency’s website, ask for it in writing before any call.

Can I do SEO for my small business myself?

Some of it, yes. Completing your Google Business Profile, asking customers for reviews and making sure your phone number and address match everywhere are all owner jobs that make a real difference. The technical side, the page structure and the tracking are where help usually pays off.

How long before small business SEO works?

For searches with a suburb or town in them, expect movement in Search Console within four to eight weeks and page-one positions in roughly two to five months. Busy Adelaide-wide searches take longer. Our guide to how long SEO takes has real timelines.

Is SEO worth it for a very small business?

If customers search for what you sell in your area, usually yes. If almost all your work comes from word of mouth and you’re booked out, maybe not yet. The free audit will tell you honestly, including when the answer is no.
