October 2026 SEO results: enquiries and calls more than doubled, and what we took from it.

Every month we publish what our clients’ websites actually brought in. October was the best month we’ve counted, so this one is about why, and what you can use on your own site.

Short answer: on the 14 client sites we tracked in both months, website enquiries and calls more than doubled, from 113 in September to 233 from 1 to 30 October 2026, and Google clicks rose 37%. Sites in their second and third months did best, and the sites with one clear quote path turned the extra clicks into work. Every client’s row is on the October 2026 results page.

These totals are quote forms plus calls and emails tapped on the website, counted one by one in our client portal. Clicks are each site’s own Search Console and include people searching the business by name. The diner’s are nearly all people tapping the phone number (74 of its 76).

Five things you can take from it

1. New sites keep climbing after launch

A1 Roofing had no website in August. In its second month it brought in 21 enquiries and calls, up from 4 in its first. It’s one of the most crowded trades on Google, and Sam still doesn’t have a ranking we’d put in a headline. The early work comes from long, specific searches and suburb pages, so don’t judge a new site on its first month. How long SEO takes has the timeline.

2. Count enquiries and calls, not just clicks

Spriggs & Co went from 17 enquiries and calls to 25, most of them bathroom renovations, several for two bathrooms. That’s the number that fills a diary, which is why the Spriggs & Co case study leads with it rather than with clicks or impressions.

3. More views come first, then clicks

Most sites were shown far more often in October. ASP Build & Co went from 1,542 impressions to 17,409 and its clicks rose from 37 to 61. Many of those new views were on bigger searches like custom home building, where the site is still climbing. It means Google is testing the site on more searches, and the next job is moving those pages up.

4. Specific searches move first

The clearest ranking moves were narrow ones. “Bathroom renovations elizabeth” went from an average position of 15.9 in September to 4.9 for ASP (1 to 28 October). “Mobile welding adelaide” went from 6.5 to 5.3 for Iron Works, and “asian food tanunda” from 5.2 to 3.7 for Asian Tucker. These are small search numbers, and Search Console averages rather than live ranks, but this is what early progress looks like.

5. If you don’t track it, you can’t count it

Roam Offroad’s Shopify store had no enquiry tracking until 20 October, and it counted 19 enquiries and calls in the 11 days after. Those people were almost certainly there before, we just couldn’t see them. If your phone number and email aren’t tracked as taps, you’re guessing. SEO for small business covers the setup.

What the owners said

May Paving is booked into the new year, Spriggs & Co’s renovation diary has bookings into February 2027, and Iron Works has hired another team member (all the owners’ own accounts, October 2026). Roam Offroad also lifted its click rate, from 2.8% to 3.1%, on 687 clicks.

Piper Plumbing & Gas and For Pets Sake went live on new websites in October, so they have no September to compare against yet and aren’t in the 14-site figure.

Iron Works Mobile Welding went from 15 enquiries and calls to 22 (5 quote requests, 15 calls and 2 emails, 1 to 30 October), and its Google clicks from 82 to 105. SA Elite Handyman doubled, from 8 to 16 (12 quote requests and 4 calls), with clicks from 51 to 72, and clicks from searches that didn’t use the business name went from 3 to 10.

How to read these numbers

This is October part-way: enquiries to 30 October and Google figures to 28 October, the latest final data Google had when we wrote this. We’ll top up the results page to the whole month in early November. A1 Roofing’s September started on 2 September, and Aston Rural’s site only went live on 28 September. Not every month will look like this: October is busy for trades, and results vary by business. Want to see your own numbers laid out the same way? Start with a free SEO audit.

Evidence used in this article

  • Website enquiries and calls from our client portal: quote forms (one per person per day), plus calls and emails tapped from each website. 1 to 30 October 2026 against all of September 2026, 14 client sites tracked in both months.
  • Google Search Console for each client site, read through a read-only service account, final data: 1 to 28 October against 1 to 28 September 2026, all searches including the business name. Search Console runs about two days behind, so the October figures stop at 28 October.
  • Live Google Maps checks on the dates shown (mobile, logged out, searched from the town named). Owner outcomes are the owners’ own accounts.
